I hope Hyde Park Baptist Church felt good and certain about their decision to not host the Austin InterFaith Thanksgiving Dinner at their facility. They do have the right, of course, to not want people to practice non-Christian worship at their church.
The church is not too popular in Austin right now. Hyde Park’s gotten some crap about their decision, as this article by John Kelso illustrates. I also know that a lot of people went to the dinner last weekend simply to show support to InterFaith over this. Largest crowd they’ve had yet - a good thing the folks at Beth Israel volunteered their space.
So much for the spirit of InterFaith at Hyde Park, eh?
