I see a couple of people every day not paying attention because they’re texting while driving to work, and many more doing stupid shit like weaving, not being able to maintain a consistent speed, forgetting turn signals, etc. while talking on the phone.

People don’t take these things seriously enough, or realize that their inability to practice self-restraint and just LEAVE THE PHONE ALONE can have fatal consequences. Dividing your attention in a fast-moving and -changing situation like that can prove just as detrimental to driving ability as being drunk.

It’s hardly ever okay to talk or text while driving. Just because driving is something you do every day doesn’t mean you’re not still manipulating a ton of metal and plastic at high speed around other people. Talk later. Whatever it is, it can wait. Or you can pull over.

And if I’m in the car with you and you try it, I guarantee I’m angry at you.
