I like to voice my opinion.  Sometimes I get the idea every other person on the planet and their dog and cat are doing so too.

Digital Music Showdown over Who Gets Paid What →
The recording industry and the publishers are a bunch of crooks. I think all their money should get cut and 25% should go to the artists.  I’m pretty sure the record companies aren’t complaining because the artists are making less. I’m sick of rich people milking the system to make more money they don’t need and complaining when people don’t let them do it.

The Park Bench: I read "Cosmo"...so you don't have... →
I have long thought Cosmo and other similar magazines are a waste of time, but here’s a good critical look at the value of their content. Does it bother anyone else that the only two long-term cover stories in any of these magazines are “how to make yourself more sexually appealing because apparently that’s the only thing that will ever attract a man to you which of course you...

F You Very Much for Calling (and other stock... →
I keep telling people, and people keep on not listening, that the stock market has as much (if not more) to do with psychology than economics. This post illustrates why that is. If the market drops, the absolute worst thing that the hordes can do is go rush in and sell all their stock and start hiding it in glass jars buried in the basement. That does nothing but make the situation worse and...

WTF?!
I may be planning to vote for Barack Obama, but I certainly don’t believe that Republicans are all evil.  I know some very nice ones.  It’s the ones that say things like this that terrify me. “Shaira law will be passed here. Taxes will increase exponentionally, the economy will tank worse than now. Gas will be $7.00 a gallon. Abortion on demand at all stages of pregnancy will be...

WOO HOO! I think I wrote a (much less funny) version of this back in college. I always hated women-targeted cleaning commercials.  I would say they make me feel dirty, but that’s just too much of a pun.

Is it just me, or does this point out the fact that Microsoft is actually as lame as the “I’m a PC, I’m a Mac” ads?  I can’t see how this overly long video without much point is very funny or how it serves to combat Bill Gates’ I-am-a-business-dork image. FLDS Dress →
I’m not sure what to do with this. The Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (FLDS Church - they of recent legal trouble over children, wives, etc. in Texas) now has a website selling their trademark modest clothing for children and women. It’s supposed to support the women, I guess, and it’s a nice idea to be self-supporting, but the FLDS isn’t...

Ancient instrument brought to life
Technology allows us to hear an epigonion - stringed Greek instrument, a sort of harp.  From News for Medievalists: “nowledge of the Epigonion musical instrument, dating back from the Ancient Greek era, is based on archaeological findings, historical pictures and literature. Using this archaeological data as an input, it was then transformed by a complex digital audio rendering technique to...

AccuWeather.com - Ike Weather News →
Sensationalist weather reporting is really disappointing.  “Massive storm surge” and “dangerous Category 3 hurricane” and “potentially lethal northeast quadrant.” Can’t people just state the pertinent facts without inappropriate editorializing with adjectives and threatening verbs?  Shouldn’t they be urging people to react calmly and be safe instead...

I mostly include this for the part about the community organizers. It’s true. If you’ve ever done any community organization, volunteer work in the community, or helped out with/worked for a church group or small community nonprofit, you know it’s hard work. I can’t see why that bit from the RNC that spits on Obama spending time as a community organizer rather than doing...

We shouldn’t attack the poor woman for anything - it’s just sexist!  Good lord there’s been more of a shit storm over a potential female VP than over Senator Clinton running for President. Comedy Central invited me to put this on my blog so I can watch it multiple times. I love Jon Stewart.

Texas to teachers: Bible will be taught →
Why am I still living in this rancid pit of hell?  I’m not opposed to the Bible as literature, but I don’t think that’s really what the Texas legislators mean.  For example, “Chisum said the legislature specifically addressed the Bible, not the Quran or any other religious writing, because “the Bible as a text … has historical and literary value.” And other...
